We at NPO JaNet extend our deepest
sympathy and condolences to the people of Japan, especially those affected
directly by the earthquake and tsunami that have devastated the entire country.
We will keep updated our members as well as non-members with the latest news
and information through Japan Earthquake Emergency Information/Support Center

Northern Japan was hit by a huge
earthquake (Magnitude 8.8 – The 5th Largest earthquake ever recorded – on March
11th at 2:46PM Japan time (March 10th, 12:46AM NY time). In response to this
unprecedented disaster, we have set up Japan Earthquake Emergency
Information/Support Center. We will keep you updated with the latest news and
helpful information.
We have also created Japan
Earthquake Relief Fund. All donations will be delivered via Japanese
Consulate General in New York to various charities and local
municipalities in Japan that are providing rescue/relief services.
Your financial support in these difficult times is greatly appreciated. We’d
like to thank you very much for your generosity on behalf of the nation of Japan
and its people.

According to Japan Meteorological
Agency, the latest earthquake is the largest, most devastating earthquake the
agency has recorded since 1923. Various news agencies have reported enormous
earthquake/tsunami damages across the entire Northern Japan as well as parts of
Central to Southern Japan. Most telephone services to the affected regions have
been interrupted since last night.
